With the usual plethora of conspiracy theories, rumour and speculation circulating regarding the vacant coaching position at Ulster Rugby it is a surprise that no one has come up with this before now.

Will the IRFU be using the Ulster appointment to have a look at a possible successor to Eddie O?

With the likes of Scott Johnson and John Connolly being mentioned in the local press maybe Eddie O'Stickinthere's position is not as secure as he thinks.

"New FRU Magazine Will Give Old People Something To Read While Waiting To Die!", claims editor Dewi Barnes.

The tedious pre-death "waiting period" endured by senior citizens will become slightly less boring with the launch of New FRU magazine (still not as funny as it used to be).

"People in this country talk a lot about doing something for the elderly but here at the FRU we are doing something about it. We are tackling head on the two most important issues facing old people today; boredom and the fact that they haven't died yet."

He added, "The New FRU will have a 32 font format large enough for even the oldest to read. The first issue will also feature very large colour pictures as well as "I can read it all by myself" stories, which contain no big words. There will be features on how pills can be dissolved into custard to make them easier to swallow. There will be interviews with serial bed-wetters and real time trials with incontinence pants. Discussion groups will focus on the things which interest old people the most, such as "bowel movements", and tips to help remember where they left their teeth/spectacles/hearing aids. For those who have completely lost the will to live and are interested in accelerated euthanasia we will show the last eighteen months of Ulster Rugby's performances."

The second issue will feature pictures of a horse and a duck.

Ulster fan awarded libel damages. (BBC Northern Ireland)

An Ulster rugby fan who was attacked by ex-Irish international Trevor Brennan has been awarded damages for libel at the High Court in Belfast.

Patrick Bamford, 26, sued the Guardian newspaper over its reporting of the incident at the match between Toulouse and Ulster last January.

The paper also published an apology which stated that Mr Bamford was an innocent spectator.

Mr Bamford's solicitor said his client had been "totally vindicated".

"He was a totally innocent victim of an unprovoked assault," he added.

This is not a tribute to Ray's playing career. Better men than me will speak with more authority on that matter.

My story is from the Dragons Ulster match this year. We were standing chatting waiting for the teams to come out and all of a sudden there was a round of spontaneous applause from the Dragons supporters around us. We looked around and there he was Ray Gravell, the man, greeting and shaking hands with the Dragons well wishers.

A staunch loyal Llanelli man, Gravell was clearly touched and embarrassed by this reception from their arch rivals Newport.

Ray Gravell a great player and a great man.

The Lady Panthers will take on Bowling Green State University on November 10th, 2007 in the Midwest Final Four in Iowa Falls, IA. The Panthers enter the Midwest Final Four as the No.1 Seed in the tournament. The other semi-final will be between Minnesota-Duluth and Grand Valley State University. The Championship and 3rd/4th match will take place on November 11th. Not all details (match times, etc) have been released, but we will post them when they become available on our match preview:

Their first match is against Winona State, who the Panthers defeated in a pre-season tournament.
The other half of the bracket for the playoff will be Illinois State Women vs. University of Wisconsin Women. The UW Women are definitely tough, but the Panthers had a 31-7 win over them and their strength was not entirely reflected in the score.
